Things to do this Memorial Day weekend in New Jersey


There’s so much fun to be had in New Jersey to mark the unofficial kickoff of summer, and after the year we’ve had, we’re ready to get out there and enjoy!

Wildwood International Kite Festival
Friday to Sunday, hours vary
On Rio Grand Avenue Beach, Wildwood
Beginning with a nighttime illuminated kite at 9 p.m. on Friday, this weekend-long event is sure to entertain the family and is free for spectators. Stop by for the loud and quiet auctions on Saturday and check out family games, sport kite demonstrations, large inflatable kites and more throughout the weekend.

Legoland: New York
Goshen, NY
The Legoland amusement park is open all weekend. You can pre-book tickets to experience the park’s fun grounds, including MINILAND which features LEGO buildings of many of your favorite landmarks.

Intrepid Museum Fleet Week
Intrepid Museum, NY
Thursday – Monday
Throughout the weekend, explore a variety of exhibits, activities and demonstrations from the military, including the US Marine Corps and US Coast Guard. The weekend will end on Monday, May 30 with the Museum’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony.

41st Annual May Fair
Haddon Avenue, Collingswood
Saturday (rainy date Sunday)
This fun day will include art, music and activities for all ages. Over 200 expected artists and artisans will exhibit and sell their unique creations in a juried show. Kids will enjoy the KidZone with kid-friendly carnival games, rides, and crafters. Several live music stages will feature blues, rock, folk and more.

The Taylor Party: Taylor Swift Party
House of Independents, Asbury Park
Are you ready for this? This adult (21+) event will have you dancing the night away to your favorite Swift songs and other pop music. Find a babysitter, grab your team and come party!

New Jersey Renaissance Fair
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Liberty Lake, Bordentown Township
The New Jersey Renaissance Faire is back with vendors, food and tons of exciting shows all day long, this weekend promises wild entertainment for the whole family. Tickets are available online.

Memorial Day Weekend at Six Flags
Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson
Saturday – Monday
Start the summer riding Kingda Ka and Nitro. Do you have a dinosaur lover at home? Good news! Also be sure to check out the Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure next door, featuring over 1,200 animals from 6 continents.

Start Summer Carnival at Franklin Pond
6 Corkill Road, Franklin
Wednesday – Sunday
Join us for rides, games, food, vendors and more. There’s something for everyone in the family at this fun event. Ride bracelets are available every day.

LEAD Carnival
Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus
Thursday – Monday
Enjoy food, rides and entertainment at LEAD Fest, an event organized by law enforcement against drugs and violence. This festival includes a performance by Granpa Cratchet. Children must be 36″ to ride most rides.

Land of Make Believe Season Opener
354 Great Meadows Road – Route 611, Hope
Saturday – Monday
The Land of Make Believe will be open weekends only from Memorial Day weekend through the third weekend of June. Go on rides with your little ones to start summer off on a fun note!

Spring Open House and Craft and Farmer’s Market
Well-Sweep Herb Farm, Port Murray
Saturday Sunday
Take part in two full days of free informative lectures and presentations, tours of the spectacular gardens and a special craft and farmer’s market! This event is rain or shine.

Memorial Day ceremony aboard the battleship
Battleship NJ, Camden
Battleship New Jersey will remember the military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice with a complimentary ceremony on the ship’s forecastle (foredeck). The Knights of Columbus will lay a memorial wreath on the Delaware River to remember the men and women who gave their lives in defense of our nation.

Renault JazzFestival
Renault Vineyard, Egg Harbor Township
Friday Sunday
Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with live performances on the Main Stage at the new Renault Festival site on the Champagne Patio and indoors in the Tasting Room. Renault Food specialties and cocktails will include barbecue beef brisket, shrimp poboys, beignets and exclusive drinks. Food trucks will also be available for additional options. The weekend-long festival is highlighted with a fireworks display on Sunday evening.

Green Valley Farm Rodeo

Come watch a live rodeo. The children’s rodeo is the first, followed by the professional rodeo.

Family Fun Night Wall Stadium
1803 Highway 34 South, Wall Township
A demolition derby is the main event here. Celebrate Memorial Day together on this great outing to the Jersey Shore. It’s called the “Jersey Shore Roar” for good reason!

Touch a Truck and Family Movie Night
Township of Mansfield. Community Park, Columbus
Families are invited to view various vehicles large and small, and at dusk the Paw Patrol movie will begin. The screening will take place on the soccer fields on the right side of the park. Bring your own blankets and chairs.

Annual fireworks over the bay
Bryant Road, Waretown
Saturday (rainy date Sunday)
Ocean Township will host its annual fireworks display over the bay. DJ Mike Thompson will be playing music and the Lunch Wagon food truck and ice cream will be on site at Bay Front Park.

Bradley Beach Memorial Day Weekend Festival
Ocean Avenue, Bradley Beach
Saturday Sunday
Join the vendors, artisans, music and food. It’s family fun that everyone will enjoy.

Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival
175 Oceanport Avenue, Oceanport
Saturday – Monday
Come enjoy 35 of Jersey Shore’s most mouth-watering food trucks. Taste everything from lobster rolls to macaroni and cheese to fried Oreos. There will be great music, live horse racing and more.

Field Station Dinosaurs Opening Day
3 Overpeck Park Driveway, Leonia
Dino fans can come check out over 30 life-size moving dinosaurs at Field Station Dinosaurs. There will be shows, games and activities to entertain the little ones.

Cape May Music Festival
Cape May Rotating Bandstand, Cape May
Join the band in beautiful Cape May for an evening under the stars as they open the Cape May Music Festival with a patriotic-themed concert to honor those who have given their all to protect our freedoms.
